Tertiary Grants
Eligibility:
Applicants must live or have lived in the Trust District being the Greytown Electoral Ward of the South Wairarapa District for at least 12 months.
They must be enrolled at a recognised tertiary institution with NZQA certification.
Amount:
The annual grant is the lesser of $1,000 or 50% of the annual course fee, for the first tertiary grant; the annual grant increases to $1,500 for the second and third years of tertiary study or 50% of the annual course fee. Grants for courses of less than 6 months duration will be paid at 50% of the annual grant.
Grants are limited to 3 years of tertiary study; in effect only 6 half yearly grants per student are awarded
Timing:
March and July, with 1/2 of the annual grant being available at each date.
The Trust advertises for applications in February & June. The closing date for applications is the end of March and July with applications been considered during the first week of April and August. Late applications for the March instalment are carried forward to July and the full annual entitlement is paid out at that time provided that a further application is made in July. Late applications for the July instalment will not be considered except under special circumstances and at the discretion of the trustees.

An application form [129.6 KB pdf] is available to be downloaded or from the office of the Trust. The first application each year must be accompanied by proof of payment of course fees. It is important that all the imformation detailed on the application checklist is included as this could delay the payment of successful grants.
